All I want is candy, all the time. Even when I’m in the groove with a well balanced diet and exercise, I feel like the sugar craving for me never subsides! Does this happen for anyone else? I have tried alternatives like drinking a smoothie, or eating watermelon (fact: best fruit ever), but that does not squash my cravings. However, is it really that bad if I keep candy in my diet with moderation…something I have not been able to do in the past, but with more mindful eating, can this be ok?
I was just watching the latest YouTube upload by Keltie O’Connor (if you don’t watch her videos I highly recommend them, because she is body positive and gives the real scoop on workout trends/diet fads) who trains like an NBA player for a week. In the video, she mentions candy being a go to for some players, and makes a great point about overall balance within the daily diet. The problem for me in the past was that I looked at each meal as a make it or break it, there was no balance. If I had something that was not what I classified at “good,” then my day was ruined and I ate like garbage the rest of the day.
I wish programs like Tone it Up were around earlier in my life. Seeing the community transform into strong women through exercise and mindful eating is inspiring. There are great wholesome foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as treats for the sweet tooth moment. The more I am educating myself in a healthy lifestyle versus the diet mentality, I am finding happiness with my body. A major part in this lifestyle is my mentality towards food.
Excuse me now while I eat a bowl of watermelon, wishing it was a bag of gummy sharks.
